A range of soloists may be featured in our concerts and sometimes they are also members of  “The Lakes Ensemble” as in the examples featured on this page.

Soloists:


Tracie Penwarden - Soprano

Tracie Penwarden was born in Andover, Hampshire and started her musical career as a pianist and bassoonist, but it was her passion for singing that led her to Trinity College of Music, London from where she graduated in 1995, claiming the Singing Department Prize in her postgraduate year. Tracie has toured the country singing the title roles in oratorios and has sung in many of the London concert venues including a “Promenade” concert in the Royal Albert Hall. Tracie’s engagements have included performing classical recitals on board Mediterranean and Baltic cruise liners. Now living in Milnthorpe with her husband, Ian and their son, Austin, she leads a busy life, singing as a soloist with several local choral societies, as a recitalist and as a teacher of singing.


David Edmonds - Flute

David Edmonds was born in Kendal and went to Queen Katherine School. He was the principal flute player in the Cumbria Youth Orchestra and in 1994, commenced studies with Clare Southworth at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, from where he graduated in 1998. David was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for two years and in 1994, was a woodwind finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year. Based in Kendal, David is a member of several orchestras and ensembles in the north west of England and is also in demand as a soloist.

Wendy Sharrock - Mezzo Soprano

Wendy Sharrock - Mezzo Soprano
Wendy Sharrock started her vocal training at Guildhall School of Music in London, and continued Post-Graduate training at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. From there she went on to sing for several years with Opera North in Leeds. Her operatic roles included “Evadne” in Troilus and Cressida, “Azucena” in Il Travatore, “Ulrica” in A Masked Ball and “Amneris” in Aida. More recently Wendy has been a regular performer with the Northern based company Heritage Opera, appearing last year in The Magic Flute, Dido and Aneaus, and The Beggar's Opera. Now living in Morecambe she combines a busy family life with singing and teaching, and regularly performs in concerts, recitals and Oratorios.
